MISSOULA ~ Mercy Parinio Sampang Keith, 46, of Missoula, passed away unexpectedly on June 16, 2020 at St. Patrick Hospital. She was with her husband and loved ones at the time of her passing.

She was born on August 21, 1973 in Angeles City, the Philippines, to Teofisto and Corazon Sampang. She spent her childhood in Angeles City with her family. As a young adult she pursued a career as a musician and singer, travelling to other countries throughout Asia to perform. While working in China she met Lance Keith in 2006. The couple soon fell in love and enjoyed recounting how the love first began over a bottle of tequila. They were married in 2012.

In 2015 they returned to Lance’s home of Strafford, New Hampshire, where Mercy worked as a Certified Nurse’s Aide. She quickly became a loved member of the Keith family of New Hampshire and Massachusetts. In New Hampshire their family grew with the addition of Boo, a Maltese Poodle mix of diminutive size yet considerable personality.

In September of 2018 they moved to Missoula, where Lance’s son was living. They loved Missoula and all the beauty of the Northern Rockies. Mercy quickly became a close friend to many within the community. She also was a vital part of family gatherings with Lance, his son, his son’s wife and their surrounding friends. She worked at Dillard’s as an expert Salesperson. Through all her travels she still maintained very close contact with her family in the Philippines.

Mercy had a vibrant and loving personality. She was an extremely talented dancer and singer. She put considerable emphasis on fitness and health. She loved watching sports with Lance and was an avid Red Sox and Patriots fan. She placed care for others as a core value to her life.

She is survived by her husband, Lance, in Missoula and her family in the Philippines.

Her funeral will be at 2:00 p.m. Wednesday, June 24, 2020 at Garden City Funeral Home. Father Steve Lantry will officiate. There will be no visitation.

Mercy was my "very young" Aunt. I loved her so much. She just lit up a room whenever she entered it. She always made me laugh and smile. I felt very close to her right away...she was just that type of caring person. She made Uncle Lance so happy it was so obvious that they loved each other over the top. I will miss Mercy so much. I am so happy that I did have her in my life. I feel such a loss to have lost her so suddenly and so early. I will always remember her as a truly kind soul. She never missed a birthday for me or Danny , always with a funny card or photo. I miss you Mercy. I will miss you so much at family will just not be the same without you. My love goes out to Uncle Lance and Mara and Tyler and Boo. I am glad my mother and Uncle Glenn were able to be there at the service. We will be there in heart and watching the live stream. Love you all. Kim and Danny

Mercy was my sister-in-law, and I loved her dearly. She was so full of sunshine and love, and we are in shock and disbelief over her tragic and untimely death. Mercy cared so much about others, and was such a wonderful addition to our family. We all loved her so much, and are devastated by her loss. We are grateful for the time we did have with her and she will live in our hearts forever.

I met Mercy, Lance and Boo when they moved to Missoula. Mercy shared her joy in attending exercise classes - what a dynamo and so committed. Mercy was a friendly, caring, wonderful neighbor who had a special partnership with her puppy Boo, you could actually see it in their eyes as she cuddled him. Both Lance and Mercy walked with Boo often visiting with neighbors, sharing their day, gardening, and Mercy's work. Recently Lance was teaching Mercy how to mow their lawn--a first for her and she did a great job!
I am heart sick at her passing. So sudden and unexpected. My sincere sympathy to Lance, Boo and his family at this sorrowful time. It is difficult to believe and will take time to wrap my head around it. Know that Mercy was a very caring special lady who was a delightful, joyful person to know.
