Anne Margaret Levey McNallen of Missoula, MT, born April 22nd, 1955 passed away on May 2nd, 2024 after a courageous battle with breast cancer. Anne had just celebrated her 69th birthday.
Anne is survived by her son Gregory DuPont, his wife Kelly and their two children Lyla and Ryder; her son Timothy DuPont, his wife Bethany and their three children Sawyer, Zoey and Waylon; her sons Christopher DuPont and Jack McNallen; her brother John Levey and his wife Mary Lou; her sister Susan Levey; extended family and loyal friends. Anne was preceded in death by her father and mother, John and Margaret Levey.
Born in Albany, New York, Anne attended Holy Cross Elementary School and Vincentian Institute High School. She then earned her Bachelor of Arts degree at the University of Rhode Island, graduating in 1977. Following graduation, Anne embarked on a long and distinguished career in sales and marketing, with specialization in the medical industry. She would often reflect on her years in business as a time of transition in corporate norms for women in the workplace. She took great pride in championing the cause of fair treatment for working mothers, leading by example, maintaining excellent job performance while being unabashed in her prioritization of her family. After years in the corporate world Anne moved forward into her second career in 1997, and became a licensed Real Estate Agent. Once again, she excelled in her newly chosen profession.
From 1991 through 2020 Anne resided in Amherst, New Hampshire. There she did what she would describe as her best and most important work: raising four boys. As her battle with cancer continued Anne decided to leave the east coast, relocating to a new home in Missoula, Montana, under the care of her eldest son. It was also an opportunity to be closer to her grandchildren, who call her Nanny. She relished her time with them and was inspirational as a beacon of love and kindness. In true “Nanny fashion”, she touched the lives of many in Montana, seizing the opportunity to build friendships, relationships, and experiences during her four years in residence that for others, might have taken decades.
Anne loved life. She would state she wasn’t afraid to die; she simply appreciated the gift of life and had milestones she dearly wanted to experience. She loved current events, both newsworthy and those a bit tawdry, and she was a very formidable debater. She loved food and drink, whether cooking in her kitchen during the Holidays, glass of red wine in hand, or enjoying a cheeseburger and favorite IPA at a local establishment (perhaps while remarking on the fashion choices of her fellow patrons). Her love of sports was born as a child as she often recounted her memories of watching the New York Giants on television, while sitting on her father’s lap. Anne would later cheer-on her own children from the sidelines of their sporting events with the type of unwavering support and encouragement reserved only for mothers rooting for their sons.
Anne was a devout Catholic, strong in her faith and her relationship with God. Religion was a constant source of comfort and reassurance throughout her life, especially as her battle with cancer progressed. She managed to keep her sense of humor even in hospice, ensuring the nurses who cared for her, and her boys who surrounded her at the end, could smile occasionally through their tears. Anne will be dearly missed by all who had the good fortune to know her.
We love you, Mom.
