Toni Ammerman

November 8, 1946 — October 23, 2025

Missoula

Toni Ammerman, 78, of Missoula, died on October 23, 2025 at The Village Senior Residence, due to declining health.

She was born on November 8, 1946 in St. Cloud, Minnesota to Neil and Rita Gacke. She played piccolo in high school and often spoke of the special trip she took by train to Glacier National Park with her bandmates to play in the park. After high school, she went to nurses training at St. Joseph's Hospital in Mankato, Minnesota and became an LPN.

Toni moved to Montana with her first husband, Ken DeVos, and her two children. She later divorced and married Greg Ammerman in 1984 in Glacier National Park. Greg later died in 2004.

Toni enjoyed flowers, gardening, coffee, hiking and spending time with her dogs Blitz and Fuller. Toni liked to sew clothing, embroider, and took up quilting with her daughter. Toni loved spending time with her family and extended family on birthdays and holidays. She was immensely proud of both her children Tim and Heidi, and the people they became. Toni was an incredibly capable and independent person and built her kids a treehouse singlehandedly. She was very kind and loving and never had bad words to say about anyone. She was also an animal lover and made a point of instilling that in her daughter.

Survivors include her son Tim Devos, wife Danette, granddaughters Hailie and Ellie; her daughter Heidi Bakula and husband Mark; her brothers John Gacke and Tom Gacke and wife Pam.

In lieu of flowers please send donations in her name to Friends of the Shelter, P.O. Box 1693, Missoula, MT 59806. Friends of the Shelter benefits Missoula City/County Animal Services. No services are planned.
