Obituary

Arnold “Arnie” Warren Bernhard, 80, of Missoula, passed away March 29, 2026, of natural causes. He was born August 31, 1945, in San Diego, California to Cecil and Florence Bernhard of Eureka, MT. Arnie was the second of seven children to be born to the couple.

He grew up on a small farm in Eureka, MT and attended school at Eureka Public Schools. After school, Arnie joined the Marines and served during the Vietnam War.

Arnie had a few meaningful relationships in his life. However, it was not until later that he would meet Grace, the love of his life. The couple remained together until her passing in the early 2000s.

Arnie enjoyed rock collecting, NASCAR races, watching World Wrestling Entertainment, and old John Wayne Westerns. He also had a special talent creating jewelry and dream catchers out of willow branches. Some of Arnie’s favorite times were birthday parties spent with friends.

Arnie will be fondly remembered as someone who was extremely funny with a great sense of humor. He will also be remembered for his caring and kind heart. He was someone who was always willing to help others however he could.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Cecil and Florence Bernhard; his brother, Robert Lyle Bernhard; sister, Elizabeth Ruth (Bernhard) Hilde; and partner Grace.

Survivors include sisters, Elaine (Lawrence “Larry”) Hauglum of Missoula, MT, Lorraine Decker of Libby, MT, Bonnie Kaulitzke of Kalispell, MT; brother John (Cathy) Bernhard of Missoula, MT; his chosen family, Amy Augello-Rich and her husband James, Stacey Emery, and Jessica Meeks.
