Beulah Brockway Brittenham, 89 years old, of Missoula, passed away early on Friday morning, August 28, 2026, at her home, surrounded by loving family, of natural causes.

She was born April 8, 1937, in Sandpoint, Idaho, to William and Helen Brockway. Ranching and farming were her way of life throughout her growing up years.

Her three brothers and parents moved to Fort Benton and one of the memories mom had was of her and her mother working at the now Historic Grand Union Hotel! The other memory was contracting polio and her mom rushing her to Missoula to save her life, with the very real possibility of having to be placed in an iron lung!! She survived the illness, which was mom’s mantra numerous times over her lifetime. She was the toughest little lady ever!

Due to mom’s illness the family bought a 200-acre farm in Arlee where mom went to high school and met her high school sweetheart, Theodore “Ted” Brittenham. They were married after graduating, on December 2nd, 1956. They moved to Columbia Falls, having three children in a span of four years, all the while building their home.

Mom was the most amazing, loving, kindhearted, fearless, hardworking lady. Her laughter and big smile she shared with her family and friends.

Mom sewed, canned (we especially loved the jams and jelly), cooked, gardened and took care of three toe-headed rugrats. She was outgoing and belonged to the Jaycee’s, loved to bowl, helped run “The Taxi service for 17 years”, which led to many very interesting tales!!

She loved being outdoors and picking huckleberries. One of her favorite memories was picking with her family up by Hungry Horse Dam, alongside a black bear mama with cubs!

Mom and Dad moved to the Stevensville area after retirement, in 1998, to be close to family and their only granddaughter, who they loved so much. Mom and Dad shared an incredible bond, there they became part of the community and met so many wonderful friends!

Mom loved animals of all shapes and sizes and especially her little yorkie, Gracie, who insisted on going for daily walks at the community park.

The last two years she got to meet and love her “lil” great-grandson, Ike, who made her smile often.

Beulah is survived by her loving husband Ted; devoted children: Dan (Lisa McBain) Brittenham and Carla (Parker) Davies; cherished granddaughter Jessica (Wyatt) Lytton, and treasured great-grandson Ike Joseph; her brother Dean Brockway; cousins, Janet and Paul Wolf; numerous extended family and friends.

She was preceded in death by her son Edward D. Brittenham; brothers Billy and Joe Brockway; and her parents William and Helen Brockway.

A memorial service will be held at a later date. Interment will take place at the Woodlawn Cemetery in Columbia Falls, MT.
