Brian Stevenson King

Brian Stevenson King, 39 years old of Missoula Montana, passed away May 21, 2026. He was the son of Cheryl Roberts of South Hill, VA and Father Earnest S. Hatcher of Chase City, VA. He left to mourn his sister Demetrice Lee King (Randy), also two nephews JaStevio and Caron King. Preceded him in death are his two brothers Terrell and Jermaine King, Stepfather Tony Roberts, Uncle Conway King (Michele) of Baskerville, VA, Aunt Patricia (Willie) Redd of Petersburg, VA, Loretta Staten of Annapolis, MD, Mary Darben of Clarksville, VA, Ruby Moore of Brooklyn, NY, Pattie Hayes of Richmond, VA, Mattie Smithson (Carnell) of Chase City, VA, Barbara Brown (Thomas) of Richmond, VA, Barbara Hatcher of Richmond, VA, and a dear devoted friend Brandy Laque and her daughter Aaliyah.

Brian came into my life in 2010 through a series of wild adventures and chances that most people would never take. One of those chances led him to buy a one-way ticket from South Hill, Virginia, to Montana, beginning our journey. For seven years, Brian and I shared a life filled with laughter, adventure, challenges, and countless memories. During that time, he helped raise my daughter, Aaliyah, loving and supporting her as his own. He was patient, kind, dependable, and had a way of making people feel accepted exactly as they were. Although our relationship eventually came to an end and our lives took different paths, the love, respect, and admiration I had for Brian never disappeared. Some people leave such a profound mark on your life that no amount of time or distance can change the gratitude you feel for having known them. Brian was one of those people. In 2011, Brian began working at Applebee’s, where he found not only a job but a second family. The friendships he built there became an important part of his life, and the people he met along the way continued to stand beside him through the years. His ability to connect with others, make them laugh, and his loyalty was one of his greatest gifts. Brian’s legacy is not defined by any single chapter of his life, but by the countless people whose lives were made better because he was part of them. He was a devoted friend, a loving father figure, a loyal companion, and a genuinely good man. Those who knew him will remember his humor, his laugh, his heart, and his unwavering ability to care for the people around him. He will be missed, remembered, and loved always.
