Obituary

Brian Robert Armstrong, 55, of Missoula, MT, passed away on April 21, 2026, at Saint Patrick hospital from a massive stroke.

Brian was born on December 25, 1970, in Alameda, CA, and was raised in Santa Cruz, CA.

Brian was a very active child and very athletic. He competed in soccer, baseball, basketball, and football. He also enjoyed snow skiing in Lake Tahoe and surfing in Santa Cruz. He would have been a great Sportscaster or Referee, as he made calls before they did.

When Brian’s mom moved back to her hometown of Missoula, he followed. Brian was very close to his cousins. This earned him the nickname, Cuz.

He loved loud music of all varieties. He loved people stopping in at his apartment. He was a creative cook for himself and others. He liked being outside, especially camping. His favorite job was when he worked for a local nursery and learned all about different plants. Brian spent much time with the family at “The Ranch”. Marienne Hoke was like a second mom to him. He called her Grammy.

He will be remembered as someone who was kind, generous, funny, smart, and he liked to talk, and talk, and talk!

Brian is survived by his mother, Geri (Fix) Armstrong of Missoula; father, Robert John Armstrong of Arizona; sisters Sue and Kasey of California; brother Christopher; uncles Dan and Gordie Fix; aunts, Lou Anderson and Ardell Bickerton; many cousins and countless friends.

In his apartment complex he had so many friends, they are at a loss. They will have a gathering planned for him. At this time, a gathering of his Santa Cruz neighborhood friends and family will honor Brian at his favorite Surfing Beach sometime in September of this year. His Missoula friends and family will gather at a later date, details will be shared as they become available.
