Byron Anderson

January 18, 1995 — May 21, 2026

Byron James Anderson, Jr., lovingly known to many as “JR,” passed away on May 21, 2026, at the age of 31, at his family home in Saint Regis, MT. JR was born on January 18, 1995, in Billings, and from the very beginning he lived life boldly, loudly, and with a heart bigger than most could imagine.

JR graduated from Bridger High School in Bridger, MT, where many already knew him as the funny, charismatic, and larger-than-life person he would always remain. He had an unforgettable personality — the kind of person who could make an entire room laugh within minutes and leave strangers feeling like lifelong friends. He was full of energy, humor, and heart, and he carried those gifts everywhere he went.

Music was one of JR’s greatest passions. An incredibly talented drummer, he played for many bands over the years and was known for bringing unmatched energy and soul behind the drums. Whether performing on stage or simply jamming with friends, music was part of who he was. His rhythm, talent, and passion created memories that will live on forever for those lucky enough to hear him play.

He was preceded in death by his father, Byron Anderson, his grandfather, Gary Anderson and his uncle Jake Schaad.

JR is survived by his mother, Deanna Johnson, and stepfather, Travis Johnson; his sister, Anna Lee Johnson (Will); his stepbrother, Zachary Johnson; his stepsister, Blake Sample (Logan, Ensley, and Henry); his stepbrother, Keaton Rushton; his stepsister, Jaycee Rushton; his stepmother, Jill Webb (Shawn) and his ex-wife Chelse Anderson. He is also survived by his grandmother, Vicky Anderson; his grandparents, Randy and Dianne Welch; his uncle, Robert Anderson (Clarissa); his aunt, Sarah Schaad; his uncle, Jeremiah Welch; along with many cousins, extended family members, and countless friends who loved him deeply.

JR’s laughter, music, kindness, and unforgettable spirit will continue to echo through the lives of everyone who knew him. Though his time here was far too short, the memories he created and the love he gave will never fade. He will be deeply missed, forever remembered, and endlessly celebrated.
