Chlo Ann Murdock

February 14, 1943 — August 9, 2021

Chlo Ann Murdock (78) of Missoula, Montana passed away peacefully in her home surrounded by her loved ones after a long battle with Alzheimer’s on August 9, 2021.

Chlo Ann was born February 14, 1943 in Missoula, Montana to Silas and Dorothy Westfall. The Westfall family lived in Oakland, California while Silas finished his military duties. While living here Chlo’s sister Sandy was born. The family of 4 moved to Kalispell, Montana where they planted their roots. Chlo enjoyed an idyllic childhood with lots of friends and activities to keep her busy. She graduated from Flathead High School in 1961 where she played the Clarinet and participated in several clubs.

She married Marion (Ted) Murdock July 9, 1962 after a 9 day engagement in the Logan, Utah temple for time and all eternity. Their first daughter, Amy, was born in Salt Lake City, Utah . They didn’t stay in Utah long, Missoula captured their attention and is where they brought 6 more children into the world. Max, Sally, Stacey, Chlo Ann (Annie), Nancy, and Connie.

Chlo Ann’s life was spent in service to her family and many others. She played a vital role in the Missoula Chapter of Compassionate friends, an organization to support grieving parents. She spent many years as a Volunteer for Hospice of Missoula. She knew how to help out in any given situation. Chlo and Teds home was known to all as a place to gather and laugh, where many batches of cinnamon rolls were baked and shared. She enjoyed enlisting her family to do household projects inspired by HGTV, and was known to start cleaning and organizing in the wee hours of the night. She found her niche in her church service in working with the children. Chlo’s spirit of determination and sense of adventure helped her to lead her family in lake and camping activities. Many summer days were spent at the shore of Salmon lake surveying the landscape and making sure everyone had appropriate flotation devices.

Chlo is preceded in death by her parents Silas and Dorothy Westfall, husband Ted Murdock, daughters Chlo Ann and Stacey, and 3 grandsons Kyle, Kevin Hanson, and Joseph Roske. She is survived by her sister Sandy (Leonard) Tuckett, children, Amy (Randy) Hanson, Max (Becky) Murdock, Sally (Jon) Roske, Nancy (Pat) Fleming, Connie (Matthew) Heiner, 21 grandchildren, and 16 great-grandchildren.

Services will be Friday, August 13 2021 at Garden City Funeral Home at 10:30 am. She will be interred at Missoula City Cemetary following the Memorial.
