Claire "Jean" Honodel

Claire “Jean” Honodel, 88, of Missoula passed away Wednesday, September 29, 2021 at the Village Senior Residence. A private family burial will be held at a later date in Shelby Cemetery.

Claire “Jean” Eujania Honodel, daughter of Ray and Frances (Smith) Kincheloe, was born July 19, 1933 in Cutbank, Montana. She attended school in Shelby, Montana and graduated from Shelby High School. She was united in marriage with Kay Brown and three children were born to this marriage. The couple later separated. Jean was united in marriage to Robert Honodel and the couple was together until Robert passed in 2005. She was a very caring person and was a dedicated LPN for most of her working career.

Jean was a member of the Lolo Community Church and her Cat Club. She had a passion for cats and competed in many cat shows. She also loved her horses, owning only Tennessee Walking Horse breed. Jean was often found in her flower garden tending to her plant babies. She enjoyed watching the Inspiration Channel and Gunsmoke. Above all else, she was a devoted wife, mother, sister, aunt, and friend who cherished the time she spent with the ones she loved.

Jean is survived by her daughter Roberta “Bobbi” (Duane) Smedsrud and their children, Brandy Nadeau, Jeremy Beck, and Ranell Lee; her son, Buddy “Bud” (Debra) Brown and their children, Cory Brown and Christina Brown; 14 great grandchildren; a brother, Ray “Bud” Kincheloe; nieces, nephews, extended family, and friends.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Ray and Frances Kincheloe; husband, Robert Honodel; daughter, Janie (Robert) Wallace; sisters, Jo Baker and Audrey Brown; a brother, Rod Kincheloe.
