Mark Huguet

Claude Mark Huguet, (Mark), was born on the Summer Solstice, June 21, 1957. His birth was extra special as he was the much anticipated first Huguet son born to parent’s Claude and Donna Huguet. Big sister’s, Kathie and Janet, were thrilled to have a beautiful baby brother, who would be their very own, real live, baby doll. Over the years, five more Huguet boys were added to the Clan, and lastly a baby sister. So many kids to ride herd on, but Mom and Dad quickly became expert wranglers.

At the time Mark was born, the family was living up the Rattlesnake on a big chunk of land, perfect for outside fun. There was an endless supply of fellow baby boomer kids in the neighborhood, so there were enough kids to play team sports like kickball, softball, basketball, and football. This continued when we moved just up the road to a house more able to accommodate our growing family. It had a perfect football field shaped backyard and plenty of room in the driveway for a pick up game of basketball. It was only natural then that Mark made both the basketball and football teams while at Hellgate High School. Brother, Kevin, remembers him as a “stud linebacker,” and that people were scared of him. As his little brother’s followed him into Hellgate, Mark’s reputation protected them from any bullying. You would have never known with his caring disposition, that back then, he was not to be messed with!

Following graduation from Hellgate, Mark worked for several concrete companies in Missoula and Wyoming, learning all aspects of the trade. In the early ‘80’s, he decided to strike out on his own, starting his business, Big Sky Concrete. Mark worked hard and played hard. He owned and operated Big Sky Concrete for nearly 50 years. Brother, Ron, joined Mark’s company in 1994, and together with the workers they’ve employed over the years, built a thriving, successful business with one of the best reputations in the area.

In 1982, Mark met, and fell in love with Julie Cook. They were married and blessed with two sons, Michael and Ryan, both of whom are now married with sons of their own. Julie and Mark built a beautiful cabin up on the Noxon Reservoir, where the family spent many happy summer days, boating, fishing and sitting around the campfire. In later years, Mark’s generous nature made for plenty of fun times shared with family and friends up at the cabin.

Mark had the warmest, gentlest, caring, thoughtful heart. Everyone was welcome and quick to be called a friend. As we celebrate Mark’s life, we are so very sad and will miss him so much. Mark, know you will always be in our hearts. Rest in peace knowing you loved and were loved, especially by all of your big, beautiful family.

Mark was preceded in death by wife, Julie; brothers, Mike and Robbie; and, nephews, Jesse Huguet and Matthew Peterson. He is survived by: his children, Michael (Naomi) Huguet, and Ryan (Kaili) Huguet; sister’s, Kathie (Curt) Peterson, Janet (Scott) Sproull, and, Jennifer (John) Flink; brothers, Kevin (Margie) Huguet, Ron (Rhonda) Huguet, Jim (Connie) Huguet; and grandchildren, Pasqal Huguet and Kaiden Warren. He is further survived by his special bonus family: Jordan and James Lester, Kashayla Depee, Megan Boylan, and their children, Abraham, Eleanor, Everett, Beckett, and newborn Hadley, who lovingly called Mark “Bampa,” as well as, Rocky (AKA, Mowgli) and Alissa Fisher and their children, Samantha and Christine. Mark also found great joy and comfort in the time he shared with his companion, Karen Dauenhauer.

A celebration of Mark’s life will take place at the Garden City Funeral Home, 1705 West Broadway Street, Missoula, MT 59808, Friday, November 21st, at 1pm, with a reception following.
