Clint D. Clute

February 19, 1970 — April 23, 2022

Our beloved father, son, brother, and friend, Clint Douglas Clute, passed away unexpectedly on April 23, 2022, in Drummond, Montana, at the age of 52. He will be greatly missed by many.

Clint was born in Missoula, Montana, on February 19, 1970, to Flora and Harold Clute Sr. He grew up in Drummond, Montana, as the youngest of five siblings. Clint was always a kind soul, even as a young boy. He was careful to never hurt anyone or anything. He was funny and goofy and loved to make everyone laugh. From a young age, Clint developed a passion for the outdoors.

After graduating from Drummond High School in 1989, Clint went on to work at McFarland’s Logging where he operated a dozer, skidding logs, as well as operating a delimber. When he left logging, he went into underground mining for the Stillwater Mining Company. He spent 23 years with Stillwater as a contract miner and a miner trainer. While living in the Laurel/Red Lodge area and still working at Stillwater, he built two houses. He had amazing building skills and he liked to stay busy.

Clint first became a father in 1997, when his son, Garret, was born. Soon after, he welcomed son, Kolter, daughter, Emberli, and son, Mason. He was a dedicated and loving father. His children were always his first priority and greatest joy. He worked hard to raise and provide for them. His children describe him as caring, compassionate, understanding, and generous. He always knew how to cheer his kids up by joking and being his goofy self. They enjoyed spending time with him and will fondly remember their early morning mountain drives. His children looked up to him. They dreamed of being like him when they grew up. He was their hero.

Clint was an avid outdoorsman. He was most happy when spending time with family and friends in the mountains. He enjoyed hunting, fishing, hiking, 4-wheeling, and mountain drives. His best hunting days were spent with his father, uncle, brothers, children, cousins, and friends. His passion was hunting for elk with both rifle and bow. When he was in the woods, he was content regardless of whether they got anything or not. Clint’s love for the outdoors was only surpassed by the love he had for his family and friends.

Clint was preceded in death by his maternal grandparents, Amos and Florence Olmstead, paternal grandparents, Ray and Gladys ‘Marie’ Clute, father, Harold Clute Sr., and sister, Tina Clute. Clint is survived by his mother, Flora (Dale) Clute, his four children, Garret, Kolter, Emberli, and Mason, his siblings, Harold Clute Jr., Brett (Lenette) Clute, Maggie (Ron) Morgan, and numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces, nephews, and many great friends.

When you think of Clint, celebrate the good memories you have of him, remember his gentle, selfless heart and kind soul, and emulate his kindness in your own life. Clint will be missed more than words can say, but we will carry him in our hearts forever until we meet again.

Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 14, 2022, at noon at the Drummond Community Hall. Friends and family are invited to come and share a story in memoriam of Clint.
