Daniel Whipps, 74, of Superior passed away Monday, March 23, 2026, at St. Patrick Hospital. A graveside with Military Honors in the Superior Cemetery will be announced at a later date. Online condolences may be left at gardencityfh.com.

Daniel Thomas Whipps, son of Thaynard and Emily (Novack) Whipps, was born January 21, 1952, in Minneapolis, Minnesota. He attended schools in the Columbia Heights area later enlisted in the United States Army. Dan served his country in the Vietnam War and was honorably discharged. He joined the United States Navy Air Reserve during the Desert Storm Conflict. Dan worked for the railroad as a lineman for 20 years and then worked as a mail sorter for the Post Office for another 20 years. He took great pride in his work and enjoyed his many coworkers throughout his years.

Dan’s church was the woods. He loved hunting, fishing and being in nature. Dan took many trips across the United States hunting and fishing with his friends. He always enjoyed exploring the mountains when his nephews visited. Dan also had a special place in his heart for animals, especially his dogs. He was known for his practical jokes and quick wit. Above all else, he was a devoted husband, uncle, brother and friend who will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory is his wife of 44 years, Diane Whipps; brother, David Whipps; nephews, Scott and Paul Hermanson; sister-in-law, Carol (Michael) Hermanson; extended family and friends.

Dan was preceded in death by his parents, Thaynard and Emily Whipps; sisters, Barbara James; Pat Schwartz; and brother, Richard Whipps.
