David Fortner

David Richard Fortner, 47, of Huson, passed away on Monday, October 21, 2004, at his home.

He was born on January 24, 1977, in Lincoln, Nebraska to Richard and Bernadette Fortner. He was the last to join his siblings Susan, Ellen, Mike and Patrick.

In 1997 he moved to Missoula to go to college. He loved Montana and made this his home. He got his associate degree in Business Administration.

In 2001 he met the love of his life Samantha and on July 31, 2004, they were married.

On June 1, 2014, his greatest accomplishment happened when his son Elam was born. He was a wonderful father and would do absolutely anything for him. He loved Elam to the moon and back.

In 2019 him and Samantha bought their dream home in Huson where he had land and was proud to be part of a small community.

One of his favorites things to do and had been a tradition for over 20 years was going to his favorite spot to rent a cabin at Twin Lakes, every year. He enjoyed cooking, listening to music, watching his favorite teams play, the Griz, Bronco’s and Cornhusker’s, kayaking and being anywhere outdoors in the Mountains by water. He enjoyed phone calls with his parents and siblings to catch up on life. What he loved the most was a day spent with Samantha and Elam.

He worked in banking for the last 11 years and finally found the job he loved at First Security Bank.

A loving husband, father, son, brother and uncle. He cherished every relationship and all the friendships he made over the years.

He is survived by his wife Samantha, his son Elam, his parents, Richard and Bernadette, his siblings, Susan (Ron), Ellen, Mike (Kim), Patrick (Julie), his extended family, Larry, Brandon and Leslie, along with numerous aunts, uncles, cousins, nieces and nephews.

Please join us in celebrating his life, Friday, November 1, 2024, at 2pm at Garden City Funeral Home, 1705 W Broadway, Missoula, MT 59808, with a graveside service to follow at Sunset Memorial Garden Cemetery. A reception will be held after the graveside service at Garden City Funeral Home.
