Debra LuAnne Long passed away on a beautiful September evening in her sleep at home in Missoula, Montana. She was 69, the daughter of Howard “Jack” Long and Joanne G. Long, and the sister of Terri Long McGillis. Born on August 14, 1953, Debra was the first of two children and a lifelong resident of the greater Missoula area.
Once a vivacious brunette, Debra was passionate about skiing at Missoula Snowbowl and was proud to be part of Sentinel High School royalty during homecoming. Popularity came easily to her, and she was actively involved in student government and enjoyed a vibrant social life. After moving to the Rattlesnake area, she graduated from Missoula Hellgate High School.
Debra attended Loretto Heights College in Denver, where one of her favorite memories was traveling to Europe with her fellow classmates. After graduation, she became a flight attendant. Her passion for family shone through as she contributed to the corporate culture of her father’s businesses, always wearing a positive smile and exuding an enthusiastic zest for life. She excelled at networking with friends and colleagues alike.
As the years went by, Debra faced several medical challenges that tested her physically and emotionally. Nevertheless, she remained a steadfast supporter of her nieces and nephews, actively following their schooling and sports activities, and cherishing the lively adventures of their children.
Her adorable humor, love for life, travel, and family will be forever missed and cherished. Debra is survived by her sister Terri Long McGillis, along with her beloved nieces and nephews: Macall McGillis, Courtney McGillis, Angus “Jack” McGillis and his wife Jamie McGillis, Chip McGillis-Seidensticker, Channing McCollum, Mac McCollum, Max McGillis, and Mia McGillis.
