It is with heavy hearts that we announce the passing of Devin, age 31, who left us unexpectedly on September 23, 2025, in Missoula, Montana. Devin was a shining light to all who knew him, his brilliance and kindness leaving an unforgettable mark on the world and the people who loved him.
Devin was born to his devoted mother, Renee, and grew up alongside his brother, Tyler, and sister, Maddison. He shared a bond with and was cherished by his grandparents, Jim and Joanne, his uncles Eric and John (Michele), aunts Diane and Mary, and cousins Mason, Miles, Elizabeth, Andrew, Michael, Charlie and Lisa, and longtime friend and roommate Patrick.
In 2022, Devin met the love of his life, Dalton, and the two built a partnership rooted in deep affection, mutual respect, and a shared joy in life’s small moments.
Devin was blessed to also have a “bank family”. He worked as a valued team member at First Security Bank in Missoula where his colleagues admired his work ethic and his kind, thoughtful approach to every task. His smile and wave hello every day will be greatly missed.
Devin was a passionate gamer, immersing himself in worlds like Guild Wars 2, Dungeons & Dragons, Minecraft, and others. When not gaming, he could often be found engrossed in a book, camping, hiking, or traveling, always eager to explore new places, learn about history, and soak in fascinating facts at museums. Devin insisted on a GOOD cup of coffee, and couldn’t pass a bookstore without going in!
Devin was one of the kindest souls you could ever meet. He had a way of making those around him feel truly seen and heard. He had a brilliant mind and a heart that was even brighter. He was the type of person who always made time for others—whether it was a friend in need of a laugh, a family member in need of support, or simply someone who needed a moment of connection. His humor, compassion, and wholeheartedness made him the best friend anyone could ask for. His hugs truly let you know you were loved.
Devin leaves behind a legacy of love, laughter, and joy that will never fade. His family, friends, and everyone who was lucky enough to know him will forever carry his memory, holding on to the warmth of his smile, his intellect, and his generous heart.
Devin’s light may have left this world too soon, but his spirit will live on in the hearts of all who loved him. If you would like to make a donation in Devin’s honor, please consider the Missoula Writing Cooperative, the Historical Museum of Missoula,Friends of Missoula Public Library, or an LGBTQ nonprofit organization.
Rest in peace, Devin. You will be deeply missed, but never forgotten.
