Dolores J Criswell

Dolores J Criswell passed away January 17 at Missoula Valley Assisted Living from natural causes. She was born May 24, 1932, to Clarence and Emma Johnson and lived a full and vibrant 93 years in Missoula—a place she loved.

Dolores graduated from Missoula County High School, Class of 1950, and attended the University of Montana. She married her high school sweetheart, Ted Criswell, on May 25, 1952. They shared 57 active and wonderful years and welcomed three children: Steve, Julie, and Mary Anne.

Dolores worked as head secretary for First Interstate Bank and retired in 1994. In retirement, she and Ted enjoyed traveling, with South Kihei on Maui being their favorite destination.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, Dolores made fast friends and was loved by all who met her. She maintained a Friday lunch date with work friends for over 40 years, was a lifelong member of Holy Spirit Episcopal Church, and remained active through Alpha Phi, the March of Dimes, serving as an election judge, and many spirited games of bridge—she was known as quite the card shark.

She was preceded in death by daughter, Mary Anne; husband, Ted; parents, Clarence and Emma Johnson; and brother, Bob Johnson.

She is survived by son, Steve Criswell, and his wife, Lucy; daughter, Julie Ulrich, and her husband, Ron; seven grandchildren; twelve great-grandchildren; and many extended family members and friends.

Memorials may be made in honor of Dolores to HSWM, in recognition of her love for animals.

Funeral services will be held at 11 a.m. on Monday, January 26, at Garden City Funeral Home with Rev. Terri Grotzinger officiating.
