Dorie Hurt went home to be with her Heavenly Father on Friday, March 6th, 2026. She passed away peacefully, surrounded by loving family at 89 years old.
Born and raised in Missoula, Dorie graduated from Missoula County High School and was a Montana girl with a heart even bigger than its Big Sky.
She married Lawrence “Larry” Hurt in Missoula in 1954 and they were married 58 years until Larry’s passing in 2012.
She was a devoted, supportive and generous wife, mother, grandmother, great-grandmother, sister, aunt and friend. She was loving and spunky and the joy of her life was her family and connecting with her people. She enjoyed music and playing hymns on the piano as well as reading and camping and traveling. A woman of deep faith, she was a long-time member of Christian Life Center and enjoyed opening her home for women’s ministry, serving as president of the Montana chapter of Aglow International. She knew and loved Jesus. Dorie was the strong woman behind Larry, partnering with him in business and in life. She always had an encouraging word and was beautifully optimistic, a true treasure.
She was preceded in death by her parents, Reland “Rick” and Dorothy “Dot” Minster, and her husband Larry.
Dorie is survived by her children Rick (Sonja) Hurt and Tammy Hurt; grandchildren Jason Hurt, Jessica Hurt and Ricky (Cece) Sullivan-Hurt; great-grandchildren Alex Birdsley, Javan Hurt, Finn Bates and Estelle Bates; brother Gary Minster, nieces and nephews Brian Minster, Kerri Rice, Brad Minster, Kirk Minster, Jennifer Dorlene Rice, and many, many other cherished relatives and friends. She was a wonderful connector of her family, loving to host gatherings on any occasion. She will be greatly missed.
A celebration of life service will be held at 1:00 on Saturday, March 14th at Christian Life Center, 3801 S. Russell Street, with a reception to follow at the church.
