Everett “Joe” Joseph Comfort passed away on August 7th, 2022 after a protracted battle with cancer at age 84.
Joe was born March 29th, 1938 in Ronan, Montana to Roscoe and Esther Comfort. Joe grew up in Montana, served a tour of duty in the United States Navy as a Signalman in the 1950s, and then returned home to Montana.
Joe and Barbara McNellis married October 14th, 1960 in Anaconda, MT and started building a life together. 1972 found Joe and Barbara in Turah, Montana with land, five children and a newly built house.
Joe worked for Boeing, and Missoula Cartage Company as a truck driver and then purchased his own truck and trailer in 1974 becoming a self-employed owner operator truck driver. With this truck and trailer, Joe and Barbara supported and made a home for their five children. Joe retired from trucking in 2003 and pursued his interests in shooting rifles and traps.
Joe was a quiet man of honor, commitment, responsibility and family; living by his sense of honor, morals and values as a Christian and was sure in his sense of right and wrong. Joe was always there with sage advice, if asked for it by his children and delighted in seeing his grandchildren and great grandchildren.
Joe is survived by his wife, Barbara Comfort; Sister Judy Gasvoda; children, David, Elaine, Annmarie and Michael. Joe is preceded by his son Timothy.
A memorial service will be held to celebrate the life of Joe at the Butte Tap Club, 70 Basin Creek Rd, Butte, MT. on August 27, 2022, at 2:00 p.m.
In lieu of flowers, the family would welcome donations to Grace Hospice of Missoula County.
