On Friday, June 26, 2026, Frances Annette Owings peacefully entered into the presence of Christ her Savior at Logan Health Care Brendan House (Kalispell), surrounded by loving family.
Frances was born July 30,1932 in Harlowton, MT to Forrest and Louise (Brunner) Farra. She grew up in Harlowton and it was there that she met and married the love of her life, Roy Owings, in 1948. They made their first home in nearby Franklin where they joyfully welcomed their two children, Thelma Louise and Roy “Skip” Jr.
Over the years, Roy’s working career took them to several areas of Montana where they made many lasting friendships and became involved in local Christian fellowships. Frances was a true “homemaker” who could turn any house into a home, a field into a lush garden, and in sharing her gift of hospitality, she warmed (and fed!) both family and guests time and again.
Frances’s most treasured and honored roles in life were being a wife, mother and grandmother. She and Roy partnered in spending quality time with their family, whether in adventures like camping, fishing and hunting or just hanging out, telling life stories, making homemade ice cream and the memories we treasure today.
Frances and Roy had the joy of celebrating 65 years of marriage. Not long after Roy passed away in 2013, Frances relocated to Kalispell to live near her daughter and son-in-law, Thelma and Al Ray, which was a cherished time. Frances remained in Kalispell until the time of her passing.
We extend our sincere thanks to the Brendan House nursing staff and caregivers for their loving and compassionate care for Frances.
She is survived by son-in-law Al Ray, Kalispell; daughter-in-law Judy Owings, Missoula; grandchildren Rita Fryberger (Tyler), Ritzville, WA; Allen Ray (Marjorie), Kalispell; Vicki Farrell (Joel), Helena; Wade Ray (Richee), Great Falls; Roy “Chet” Owings (Brianne), Kalispell; Glenn Owings (Liz), Laramie, WY; 16 great-grand children and 9 great-great-grandchildren; also surviving is her sister Linda Stemple, Missoula; as well as numerous nieces, nephews and cousins.
Frances was preceeded in death by her husband Roy Owings Sr; daughter Thelma Owings Ray; son, Roy “Skip” Owings, Jr.; parents Forrest and Louise Farra; siblings Alice Farra, James Farra and Leroy Farra.
