Frederic Hanson, 71, of Missoula passed away Wednesday, March 11, 2026, at his home. Online condolences may be left at gardencityfh.com.

Frederic Edward Hanson, son of Sibley and Shirley (Chapman) Hanson, was born December 1, 1954, in Wolf Point, Montana. He was named after both of his grandfathers. Fred attended school in Columbia Falls and then moved to Dillon in the spring of 1972. He graduated from Dillon High School in 1973. He worked various jobs but most prominently he worked as a cook.

Fred was a member of the Bethel Baptist Church in Missoula and attended many of the picnics the church would put on in the summer. He enjoyed fishing, reading and doing crosswords. Fred was a devoted son, brother, uncle and friend who will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his brother, David (Cheryl) Hanson; sister-in-law, Christina L Hanson; numerous cousins, nieces, nephews, and great nieces and nephews.

Fred was preceded in death by his parents, Sibley and Shirley Hanson; cousin, Kim Lingle; youngest brother, Michael Thomas Hanson who just passed away November 27, 2025.
