 Garhardt “Gary” Freeman Rohlman 78, of Stevensville, MT, formally of Huntingburg, IN, passed away December 30th at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, MT.

Gary was born in Eaton, OH, March 20, 1944 to Gerhart Rohlman and Minnie Eckert. He married Dorothy Fay Eckert on October 21st, 1961 at a Pentecostal Church in Huntingburg, IN. He worked several years at the Jasper Engine Exchange in Jasper, IN and retired from Hoosier Bandag in Huntingburg, IN after 31 years.

He loved spending time with family, telling stories, and making everyone laugh. When he talked, everyone loved to listen. He was a talented craftsman, carpenter, and mechanic. He spent the years restoring wagons, designing and building any kind of project, and crafting his own stories. In his later years, he enjoyed building bird houses and wooden cars. He also enjoyed putting puzzles together and creating crafts such as Diamond Art.

Gary is survived by his loving wife Dorothy whom he was happily married to for 61 years. Gary is also survived by his three children Douglas (Diana) Rohlman, Doretta (Patrick) Reutman, and Doyle (Susan) Rohlman; eight grandchildren, Amanda Robertson, Audrey Rohlman, Addie Rohlman, Hannah Kinman, Taylor Reutman, Jessica Williams, Brandon Lee, and Tyler Rohlman; 15 great-grandchildren; two sisters, Linda Julian of Ohio and Patti Totten of Missouri.

He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers, Eddie Dale Eckert, Richard Rohlman, Harry Rohlman, Jimmy Rohlman, and Larry Fifer.

A private viewing will be held at Garden City Funeral Home in Missoula, MT from 1pm to 2pm on Thursday, January 5th, 2023. The burial service will follow immediately after the viewing, and Gary will be laid to rest at the Missoula City Cemetery.

In lieu of flowers and gifts, the family is requesting for donations to be sent to St. Patrick’s House that housed Dorothy during Gary’s hospital stay. Donations can be made in tribute to Garhardt Rohlman. https://give.providence.org/montana.
