Following a hard-fought battle with cancer, Gary Donald Hansen, 54, passed away on October 28th in the
presence of his loved ones. Gary was born and raised in Frenchtown, Montana. He was the oldest of four
siblings and took a leadership role in his family from an early age. He loved living near the family homestead
and being near many cousins, aunts and uncles. He attended Frenchtown Schools K-12 and participated in
numerous sports as well as 4-H. After graduating Frenchtown High School in 1987, Gary found his way to
Carroll College where he was a multiple time All-American offensive player for the Fighting Saint football
team. He graduated in 1991 and started his career as a successful mortgage broker. Gary was married to Toni in
1992 for 24 years. They welcomed their daughter Taylor into the world in 1997.
Gary loved his family and lived a very sociable and adventurous life. His favorite activities included camping
and relaxing at the lake, attending Griz football games, snowmobiling, 4-wheeling and spending time with his
family and friends. He was an avid golfer and particularly loved his time as a member at the Idaho Club in
Gary was a family man, and was a dedicated protector, supporter, and champion for those he loved. He is
preceded in death by his father, Donald. He is survived by his daughter Taylor (Connor) and his recently born
granddaughter, Gianna, whom he adored. He is mourned deeply by his long-time partner Jessica and their dogs
Bella and Derby. He is survived by his former wife, Toni, his mother, Marijoyce and siblings Greg (Emily),
Grant (Kristen), and Valrie (April) as well as numerous cousins . He was “Uncle Gary '' to so many, but
particularly loved supporting his nieces and nephews, Jakob, Nathan, Sydney and Chase, in all their ventures.
Gary was loved and beloved by so many people in so many aspects of his life. His legacy is truly present in the
many memories shared with those he encountered.
Funeral services will be held at Christ the King Parish in Missoula, MT on November 11th at 11:00am. A
celebration of Gary’s life will be held at Benny’s Frenchtown Club following the services.
