George Blowars

George Blowars, 81, of Hall, passed away on Friday, July 17, 2026.

George, affectionately known as "Pop Pop," was born on July 19, 1944, in Bucks County, Pennsylvania, to Clinton and Naomi Blowars.

George spent most of his life as a building and roofing contractor, continuing to roof until he was 78 years old.

In between jobs, George ran the trail groomer for the Lincoln Snowmobile Club and worked on gold drilling rigs in Cooke City and Lincoln. He also became well known for making his delicious, highly sought-after elk and deer jerky.

An avid outdoorsman, George loved hunting in Montana, Kansas, Pennsylvania, and Northern Quebec. He guided whitetail hunters in Montana and created a detailed set of quad maps for the Lincoln area. Before each hunt, he and his hunting partners would gather around the maps to plan their route for the day. They referred to them as "Pop's Torture Maps," knowing they were in for plenty of laughs, along with a fair share of moaning and groaning from the challenging terrain.

George was preceded in death by his parents; his sister, Donna Blowars; his brother, Larry Blowars; and his daughter-in-law, Brenda Blowars.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 38 years, Carol; his children, George Blowars Jr. (Tammy), Deneen McCallister (Drew), and Christopher Blowars (Stacey); his stepchildren, Brent Robison (Vickie) and Brian Robison; his grandchildren, Matthew Rieger, Michael Rieger, Brodie Rieger, Colleen Schwartz, Nick Blowars, Ryan Blowars, Justin Blowars, Zach Robison, Trey Robison, and Tanner Robison; and seven great-grandchildren.

George lived by the motto:

"I hunted almost every day of my life, and the rest have been wasted."

Services for George will be held August 28, 2026, 11:00am, at the Old Dinner Bell, Gold Creek, Montana (I-90-Exit 166) with Pastor Dave Bluford officiating. A light lunch will follow.
