George Robert “Bob” Kane, 84, of Missoula, Montana, passed away peacefully on August 30, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Hospital.

Bob was born on February 14, 1942, in Santa Monica, California. He was raised in Burlingame, California, where he lived before retiring to Bonner, Mt.

As a child, Bob attended Our Lady of Angels Grammar School and later graduated from Serra High School. In 2008, he was inducted into the school’s Hall of Fame for football and baseball. He went on to attend Marquette University and San José State University on a football scholarship. Following college, he attended The University of California Law School San Francisco where he earned his law degree.

Bob was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1968. Upon completing basic training, he married his wife, Peggy, and moved to Tacoma, WA. Shortly thereafter, he was sent to Vietnam to complete his two year service. Upon returning, he moved back to CA, where he practiced law with the San Mateo District Attorney’s Office before opening his own private practice in 1972.

Bob and Peggy raised their three sons in Burlingame. In 1991, they retired to the banks of the Blackfoot River in Bonner, Montana where they lived for 34 years.

Bob was an avid fly fisherman and golfer. He was a member of the Missoula Country Club and especially enjoyed attending his grandchildren’s sporting events. A man of deep faith and a proud American, Bob served as a Eucharistic Minister at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Bud and Marion Kane; two sisters, Maggie and Sue Kane; and brother Terry Kane.

He is survived by his beloved wife of 57 years, Peggy; their three sons and grandchildren, Greg (Nicole) Lauren and Tommy; Patrick (Karen) Shannon and Seamus; and Mike (Erin) Taylor and Bailey, along with extended family and friends who will miss him dearly.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held at 11 am on Friday, September 11, 2026, at St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Missoula ,MT A reception will begin at 1 pm at the Missoula Country Club.
