Surrounded by the love of God and her family, Virginia “Ginnie” Horner peacefully passed away in her home on March 7, 2026. A Rosary Service will be held at 6:00 p.m., Friday, March 20, 2026 at St. Anthony Catholic Church.  A Memorial Mass will be held at 1:00 p.m., Saturday, March 21, 2026 at the St. Anthony Catholic Church with a reception to follow. An inurnment will take place at St. Mary's Catholic Cemetery following the reception.

Ginnie was born in Sheridan Wyoming growing up the youngest daughter of nine children. After high school she enlisted in the Air Force 1951 where she was a parachute packer.

After her military service, she moved to Billings Montana, where she worked in a cafeteria with her future mother-in-law Ruth Horner. Ruth introduced Ginnie to her son, Marvin in 1953.

They married four months later, the beginning of their 64-year love-filled, blessed, marriage. Marv passed in 2018 and their love story continues.

Through her faith in God and loving husband, Ginnie was blessed with 11 children. One of her proudest accomplishments was watching all 11 of her children move through the Catholic schools and graduate Loyola Sacred Heart. Through the years Ginnie was a staunch supporter of the Catholic school system. Along with Marv, Ginnie was involved in various charities, BASH, United Way and the Missoula Children's Theater. While raising 11 rambunctious children, Ginnie did find time to have fun, she participated in a bowling league, played golf, joining various golf leagues with friends. She also enjoyed playing golf with Marv and with her kids.

Ginnie is survived by all 11 of her children. Debi (Rich) Nason of Montana City, Mark (Lori) Horner of Missoula, Pam Smith of Newman, GA, Matt (Pam) Horner of Glendale, AZ, Tim (Kay) Horner of Chandler, AZ, Chris Horner of Missoula, Teri (Joe) Marks of Allyn, WA, John (Judy) Horner of Missoula, Denise Horner-Dickson of Belgrade, Lance Horner of Missoula, Tony (Amy) Horner of Great Falls, numerous grandchildren, numerous great grandchildren (still in production), and nieces and nephews.

She is preceded in death by her loving husband, Marv, son-in-law, Merrill Smith, great-granddaughter Brynnleigh Horner, her parents, Lester and Hilda Johnson, and all her siblings.

Do not mourn me because I am gone. Instead celebrate my life, the places I’ve been, the people I have met, the friends I have made and the family I have loved.
