Gladys Ilene Clapham, 90, of Missoula passed away Tuesday, April 23, 2024 at the BeeHive Homes of Missoula. A funeral service will be held at 1:30 p.m., Sunday, May 5, 2024 at the Grace United Methodist Church with a visitation and viewing time beginning at 12:30 p.m. Online condolences may be left at gardencityfh.com.
Gladys Clapham, daughter of John and Lydia (Ochsner) Weisenburger, was born May 26, 1933 in Tuttle, North Dakota. She attended school until the 8th grade when she joined the workforce. While working at the Scherbenski’s Grocery and General Store a young cowboy, James Clapham, entered the store and the rest became history. The couple was united in marriage on January 16, 1953 and four children were born to this union.
Gladys was a devoted member of the Grace United Methodist Church contributing in a multitude of roles in the church. She was a trustee, a member of the Grace United Methodist Church Women’s Club, Church Choir and participated in Bible study for years, just to name a few. Gladys was a talented seamstress and was very crafty, who enjoyed making items for her loved ones. She tended to her flowers constantly and had a variety of indoor and outdoor flowers to brighten her beautiful home. Gladys and James enjoyed snowmobiling, fishing and hosting the family’s annual camping trip at Browns Lake; countless memories were created during these gatherings. She enjoyed having a full table for the holidays and loved the time spent with family and friends. Gladys often had coffee with her neighbors and enjoyed being part of a community here in Missoula. Above all else she was a loving wife, mother, grandmother, great grandmother, great great grandmother, sister, aunt and friend who will be dearly missed.
Left to cherish her memory are her four children, Angela (Lanny) Logan; Marlon (Merri) Clapham; Julie Cardarelli; Jim (Pam) Clapham; grandchildren, Sarah (Shane) Syndergaard; Kendra (Adam) McConaughey; Nick (Hillary) Logan; Cecelia (Zac Johnson) Clapham; Marcus Cardarelli; Charis (Jeff) Jacobson; Hannah (Michael Scope) Cardarelli; Amy (Todd) Price; Andy (Traci) Nichols; great grandchildren; Madison Syndergaard; Kendrick Syndergaard; Oliver McConaughey; Atlas Logan; Archer Logan; Elias Jacobson; Ian Jacobson; Havilah Cardarelli; Matthew (Emma) Price; Jacob (Noelle) Price; Danner (Kayley) Nichols; Dawson (Kaitlin) Nichols; great great grandchildren, Vance Price; Cohan Price; brother, Arley (Sylvia) Weisenburger; sisters-in-law, Julie Weisenburger; Betty Weisenburger; brother-in-law, Andy Anderson; nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
