H. LeeIda Owen (Sampson) 7/4/1937 - 8/14/2024
LeeIda passed from this life peacefully, at home, after battling a long illness.
LeeIda was born and raised in the Bitterroot Valley, on a farm in Three Mile. She attended Lone Rock Grade School. Her High School years were spent at Stevensville High, School where she met the Love of her life, Ernest R. Owen Jr. They Graduated High School in 1956, and were married August 10, 1956.
Three children soon followed. Dublin, 1957, Bruce, 1959 and Becky, 1960. She was a homemaker until the kids were old enough to attend school. She was a Cub Scout Den Mother for the boys, and she made matching square dance outfits for Her, Dad and Becky. Mom and Dad also played on a mixed Softball league. There were always numerous camping trips, vacations and Sunday drives.
She spent her working career in retail. She retired at 65 from Buttery's. Even after joining the work force, Family was everything to her.
She loved baking and making candy. Her Christmas "goodie" bags were awesome. Every major Holiday from Easter to Christmas was celebrated at Mom's house. Birthday dinners, a barbecue as well as any other excuse to come together. Time with Family was time well spent. She especially enjoyed seeing her Grand kids and Great Grand Kids - - they always brought a smile to her face.
After retirement she focused her time and energy on her vegetable and flower gardens. She enjoyed going on drives to see people and to see other places. Mom and Dad took up bowling on Senior Bowling Leagues, at one point bowling in three different leagues. Mom was also the League Secretary for one of the leagues they bowled in, for several years.
LeeIda was preceded in death by the Love of her life of 60 years, Ernest Owen Jr., both parents (Charles & Gladys Sampson), two Sisters (Genevieve Ringold, Ann Olszewski), Brother (Alfred Sampson) and Grandson (Joshua Compton)
