Jackie Kay Newman (Wood)

November 11, 1938 — September 10, 2022

Jackie Kay Newman passed peacefully at home on the afternoon of September 10, 2022. She was born Jackie Kay Wood on November 11, 1938 to John Phillip and Amelia Sieb Wood in Bridgeport, Nebraska. Her father passed away when Jackie was 5 years old. Her mother then marries Lawrence M. Jack. After two years of college, Jackie went to work for Standard Oil. On November 25, 1968, she married Lt. Howard C. Newman, at the Naval Air Station Coronado, CA. After Howard's first tour in Vietnam, Jackie moved to Chula Vista, CA, where she remained until Howard’s discharge. Howard and Jackie then moved to Missoula, MT, so Howard could attend graduate school. Jackie worked for Western Wood Products Assn., and later had other jobs until she retired. Jackie and Howard resided in Missoula until her passing. Howard is extremely grateful for the 3 months of exceptional hospice care that she received from Hestia Hospice

Jackie was an avid photographer and outdoors woman who loved fishing, big game and bird hunting, and her many dogs. She also enjoyed downhill and cross-country skiing, and riding her motorcycle. She was a crack shot with both a rifle and a shotgun. Jackie was a long-time member of Lincoln School Baptist Church, which is now Church at the gates. The most important things to Jackie were her husband, her family, her relationship with Jesus, and her many friends. Jackie was a servant at heart and not only took care of the church grounds and her lawn, she helped many friends clean up and improve their properties over the years. She is survived by her husband, Howard, her half-sister Lee Rickles in Florida, nieces, nephews, and cousins.

A memorial service will be held at 10:30 am at The Church At The Gates on September 30th, 2022.
