Alda “Jaime” Spaulding, 92, of Missoula MT passed away peacefully at home on Wednesday April 15, 2026 surrounded by loved ones.
Jaime was born on November 23, 1933 in Missoula, MT to James Albert Bailey and Alda Elizabeth Higgins Bailey. In 1951, Jaime graduated high school in Stevensville MT. After graduating she attended college in Dillon MT where she earned a teaching degree.
In her early years of teaching she taught in Livingston MT and Las Vegas NV. She taught special needs education for several years prior to transitioning to primary grades. As a teacher she cared for each and every child. She saw to it they were seen, supported and given every opportunity to thrive. If a child had a need, she quietly made sure it was met. Her classroom was a place of love and safety. Her students adored her, parents trusted her and co-workers admired her. She retired after 44 years, primarily in the Missoula School District.
Jaime deeply loved her family and friends. She enjoyed entertaining for any reason or no reason at all, and she knew how to throw a celebration. To be on the invite list for a “shindig” at Jaime’s house was an honor and a thrill.
Travel and exploration brought Jaime much joy. She loved seeing new places and visiting her favorite old spots like family creekside fishing holes. She loved flowers. She enjoyed planting, raising, admiring, gifting and shopping for flowers.
Jaime was very active in her community throughout her life. She has been involved in her local church; Grace United Methodist serving in many capacities as well as singing in the choir, Eastern Star, Daughters of the Revolution, Family Promise, Exchange Club, as well as very active Griz fan.
Jaime was preceded in death by her parents, James Albert and Alda Elizabeth Bailey, husband Donald G. Millhouse, brother Higgins Bailey and only son Raymond “Bailey” Spaulding, Brenley (dog) and KitKat (cat).
Jaime is survived by grandchildren Brandylee Loran (Charles Loran), Autumn Spaulding, great grandchildren, Jayden Loran and William Loran and kitty friends Russell and Oreo.
