– James H. "Jim' Kuhl, 82, of Lolo, passed away Mother's Day, May 8, 2016, surrounded by his loving family.
Jim was born Sept. 2, 1933, in Baker. His family later moved to Helena, where they resided on Eighth Avenue. Jim was an avid baseball and fast pitch softball player. At age 17 he signed up to serve in the Navy and was aboard the USS Tolovana. He served during the Korean War, 1951-1954.
On Aug. 18, 1969, he married Wanda N. Kroll. The couple moved to Colstrip, where Jim worked as a boilermaker until his retirement in 1989. Jim resided in Lolo with his family for the past 34 years.
Jim was preceded in death by his father, Bernard; his mother, Otilia; brothers, Arthur, Richard and Pius; sisters, Mary Lucy and Frances; and son, James Joseph Kuhl.
Survivors include his wife of 47 years, Wanda of Lolo; four daughters, Diana Howard of Helena, Dawn (Ryan) Studley of Anchorage, Alaska, Jamie Kuhl of Missoula, and Tanya Kuhl of Missoula; and son, Michael (Brandi) Kuhl of Lolo. Jim has 13 grandchildren and four great grandchildren.
A memorial service will be held at the Fort Harrison Veterans Cemetery on June 3 at 1 p.m.
Jim was loved by everyone who met him. His man cave was his haven. Jim's camping and fishing at Placid Lake with his children, grandchildren and friends was the highlight of his retirement years.
