Janey Ann Holm

May 26, 1944 — Jun 17, 2026

“With profound sorrow, yet hearts full of gratitude for a life exceptionally lived, we announce the peaceful passing of Janey Ann (Tilton) Holm. Janey passed at her home on June 17, 2026, at the age of 82.

Born on May 26, 1944, in Great Falls, Montana, to George Ransom and Gladys (Gillin) Tilton, Janey had two siblings, George Walter and William Bradley. She was raised in a family known for its creativity, humor, and deep affection. Her early life revealed an adventurous streak; she was a member of the Great Falls Ski Team and devoted to horses, spending time as a barrel racer.

Janey pursued higher education at Montana State University, where she earned a degree in education. During her years in Bozeman, she was active in the rodeo club, the Delta Gamma sorority, and skiing. After graduating, Janey taught elementary school. She possessed an innate gift for making each student feel inherently valued, assuring them that their unique perspectives and contributions mattered profoundly. Such was the magnetism of her warmth and genuine care that children often sought her out, drawn to the comforting presence of their beloved "Ms. Tilton."

Life took a beautiful turn when Janey met Robert Lynn Holm, the undeniable love of her life. They were united in marriage on March 18, 1967, embarking on a partnership built on devotion and shared dreams. Following Robert's honorable discharge from Malmstrom Air Force Base, the couple relocated to Bozeman, where he pursued an engineering degree at MSU. Their family blossomed with the arrival of their first child, Craig Jared, born on December 7, 1970. A subsequent move to Helena, Montana, welcomed their daughter, Keirsten Marin, on October 25, 1974. In 1977, the Holm family found their forever home in Missoula, where Robert built a distinguished career as a civil engineer, and Janey dedicated herself to nurturing their children and crafting a home filled with love and unwavering support. Their profound connection endured for 31 cherished years until Robert's sudden passing in 1998, a loss that deeply impacted her. The tranquil beauty of Holland Lake held a particularly special place in their shared memories.

Janey's heart expanded even further with the arrival of her beloved grandchildren: Rick Allen, born May 18, 1994, and Joseph Conner, born April 21, 1998. She relished every moment with them, creating a tapestry of unforgettable adventures and memories they will carry forever.

A true lover of the natural world, Janey found immense joy and solace in the outdoors. From childhood summers spent at the family cabin outside Lincoln, Montana — exploring vast landscapes on horseback with family and friends — to adult pursuits like camping, kayaking, skiing, rafting, dancing, and singing, her passion for life was boundless. Her love of all things equestrian endured, and she delighted in pack trips.

Janey's life was a testament to enduring love and boundless care, reflecting a profound generosity of spirit. She loved others as fiercely and unconditionally as she herself was loved. She is preceded in death by her beloved husband, Robert L. Holm (1998); her father, George R. Tilton (1968); her mother, Gladys Tilton (1997); and her brothers, George W. Tilton (1994) and William B. Tilton (2017).

In her final moments, as she peacefully transitioned, the melody of Seals & Crofts' "We May Never Pass This Way Again" filled the air — a song that perfectly encapsulated her philosophy: to live each moment fully, to cherish every connection, for life's precious journey is unrepeatable. It was a final, profound message from a woman who lived her life with unwavering purpose and grace.

Family would like to thank Big Sky Home Health and Hospice for the care given to Janey in her transition and the support given to the family.
