Jeremy Odlin

Sergeant Jerry Odlin, age 49, of Missoula died of Lung Cancer on January 20^th, 2024, at St. Patrick's Hospital. Jerry was born to John and Ruth Odlin on April 29^th, 1974, in Butte, MT.  

     Jerry graduated from Sentinel High School in 1992. While at Sentinel, he was in the Choir and on the Track and Field Team. He graduated from North Idaho College in 1994 with an Associate's Degree in Law Enforcement.  

     Jerry followed his father’s footsteps and went into Law Enforcement first with the UM Police and then the Missoula Police Department. He was a Sergeant in the Administration Division at the time of his death. A coworker recently said, “Everyone has a favorite Sergeant and for many offices that was Jerry.” There may be a few people in Missoula that did not have a bright day after their interaction with Sgt. Jerry, but he was always fair with people and lived to serve his community. 

     Jerry married the love of his life Sherri in 2004 in Missoula. They enjoyed spending time together, especially a sunny beach where they could relax and enjoy a tropical drink. We all know Jerry is enjoying the beach now in a better place.  

     Jerry enjoyed scuba diving, shooting, Griz football, and anything to do with his kids and grandkids. Most of all he enjoyed making people laugh and bringing brightness to their day. 

     Jerry was preceded in Death by his Father John Odlin, his grandmother Gertrude Mattson, and his granddaughter Chloe Marie. 

     Jerry is survived by his Wife Sherri, Mother Ruth, Brother Chris (wife Christy nephews CJ and Diego). Jerry and Sherri’s three children Daughter Toni Bauman (husband Luke and granddaughters Kennedi and Raigan), Daughter Jordan Nordlund (husband Doug and grandson Roman, granddaughter Danica, grandson Grayson and granddaughter Madelynn), Son Dane Stewart (Wife Sammie and granddaughters Peyton and Maloree). 

     Missoula Police Chaplain David Lodwig will conduct the Service for Jerry on February 3^rd, 2024, at 1pm at Missoula Alliance Church 100 Foss Court in Missoula, reception to follow.  

     Pallbearers are Dane Stewart, CJ Odlin, Luke Bauman, and Doug Nordlund.
