Jerry Wayne Johnson

Jul 7, 1975 — Oct 3, 2026

Jerry Wayne Johnson, 51, a 5 year resident of Colville, WA. passed away on Saturday, October 3, 2026, at St. Patrick’s Hospital in Missoula, MT. after a hard fought battle with renal cancer.

Jerry was born on July 7, 1975, in Deer Lodge, MT. to Perry Wayne and Lydia Ann (Paull) Johnson. In 1979, Jerry moved with his family to Colstrip, MT. when his dad took a new job as a security operator for the coal fired power plant. Jerry loved growing up in Colstrip. He was a 12 year senior of the Colstrip School District, graduating in 1993. While in High School, Jerry participated in track and field and football and was a letterman in each. Jerry also served as class president and attended Boys State in Helena. After graduation, Jerry attended the University of Montana for two semesters (majoring in video game playing, pizza, and keg stands) before being voluntold to enter the job market. After entering the job market, Jerry lived somewhat of a nomadic lifestyle, moving from State to State and job to job but he always returned home to Montana.

Jerry loved sports. He never missed watching the Celtics, the Raiders, the Cubs and of course the Montana Grizzlies. He could tell you the names of each player on each team, where they went to college, and their college and professional statistics. This was one of his many talents.

Jerry’s outgoing personality allowed him to meet people and make friends everywhere he went and his incredible sense of humor (although sometimes risque) kept his family and friends laughing and enjoying the more simple things in life. Jerry was the first person to poke fun at himself and never shied away from taking time to be silly and have fun.

Jerry was preceded in death by his dad, Perry, his paternal and maternal grandparents, 3 uncles, an aunt, and a cousin.

Survivors include his mom, Lydia (Paull) Walters, Deer Lodge, MT, sister and brother-in-law, Wendi and Bryan Hunt, Colville, WA. Devin Hunt (Maddy), Baltimore, MD. McKenzie Hunt, Colville, WA. and extended family and friends (remember he never met a stranger).

There will be a celebration of life in the Spring of 2027 (after the snow has melted in the mountains of Montana).
