John Lester Haacke was born in Deer Lodge, Montana on May 7, 1952. At age 74, his mortal body gave way to death on August 23, 2026, but his faith in Jesus Christ assured him of a place prepared for him. He left his wife Aline of 33 years, his son Thomas Haacke, his two grandsons Victor and Vigo Haacke, and his stepchildren Celina Bertollt, Carmin Moulding, and Jacob Otopalik.

John's Army career took him to several states; Texas being a favorite, where his son Tom was born. Then on to Germany for several tours as a Russian linguist. His bonds with his fellow soldiers were his joy and he kept many fond memories of his days with them in the German woods.

His six years with dementia gave him challenges, yet he remained a kind and loving husband, father, and grandfather to the end.
