Juanita Raunig

May 30, 1935 — December 3, 2023

Juanita Raunig passed away peacefully at home of natural causes, after a long battle with Alzheimer's.

She was born May 30th, 1935 in Oakland, California to Amanda Facey and Hugh McKell. As a child she was raised in Sonoma, California by her father and stepmother Christine McKell, who was her mother most of her life. She had two brothers: Robert McKell and Bob Hood.

Juanita met the love of her life, Fred Raunig when she was 17, while he was on leave from the Marines, and visiting family in California. It was love at first sight. They married January 15th, 1953 and celebrated 70 years together.

After Fred's enlistment was completed, they moved to a ranch in Stockett, Montana. Quite a change for a California girl! They raised two boys, Gary Allen and Fred Len.

In 1970 they moved to Great Falls, Montana where Juanita worked as a preventative dental therapist. In 1976 they moved to Missoula where she worked for Lambros Realty and was a very successful realtor.

Juanita lived life to the fullest, she loved cooking gourmet meals for her family, planting flowers and gardening, traveling, and spending time in Mexico were some of her favorites. The list goes on.

She was preceded in death by her parents, her son Gary Allen, and her brother Bob Hood.

She is survived by her husband Fred, son Fred (Pattie), grandchildren Shaun (Lisa), Freddy (Misty) and great-grandchildren: Aly, Bryce, Jaycee, and Parker.

A memorial service will be held at 1:00pm on March 20th, 2024 at Garden City Funeral Home and Crematory, Missoula.
