Missoula, MT - Kathie Foote, 82, passed away peacefully on September 6, 2023, in Missoula, MT. She was born on May 15, 1941, in Cleveland, OH, to Deba and Adger Johnson.
Kathie was a beloved mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother. If you knew Kathie, consider yourself blessed…. she spread love and light to all who crossed her path, and always had a smile and kind word for all people she encountered.
Kathie's passion for creativity and hard work was evident in her career and hobbies. In addition to raising her three children, she dedicated herself to ranching and cultivated a beautiful garden filled with vibrant vegetables, fruit, and flowers. She created a home full of joy, home-made food, love, and laughter. Kathie's artistic talents shone through her pottery she created, and her artisan sheepskin coats and purses, which she crafted and sold from her home in Ovando, MT. Additionally, her drawings of animals and wildlife showcased her immense talent as an artist, as she loved pencil sketching and drawing.
Kathie had a love and curiosity for travel and learning. She was an avid reader; you would often find her with a book in hand wherever she was. She was always on board for travel, be it near or far: She spent countless weeks in the Bob Marshall Wilderness on horseback with her family and friends; she loved visits with her family in Virginia, Connecticut, Vermont, New York, Hawaii, and Colorado; she also ventured beyond the ordinary and loved her trips to Bhutan, France, Italy, South America, and British Colombia.
Aside from her creative pursuits, Kathie had a deep love for animals, especially her beloved dogs. She found joy and solace in their companionship throughout her life.
She is survived by her children, Geoff (Dawna) Foote of Lolo, MT; Gretchen (Brad Reedstrom) Alexander of Big Fork, MT; and Amy (Sean) Erickson of Littleton, CO. Kathie's love extended to her grandchildren, Heather, Jaysen, Amanda, Bryce, Gavin, Emily, and Eric, as well as her great-grandchildren, Abigail, Caleb, Rhett, Kodi, and Adger. She was preceded in death by her parents, Deba and Adger Johnson, and her brothers, Bob and Michael Johnson.
