Kevin Mytty

January 29, 1961 — June 1, 2026

Kevin William Mytty - a devoted husband, father, son, brother, and friend, of Florence, MT passed away on June 1, 2026 at the age of 65 with his wife and children by his side. He was born on January 29, 1961 in Missoula, MT. He grew up in Lolo, MT on his family’s ranch and enjoyed ski racing, rodeo, and FFA with a love for animals and dream of starting a ranch of his own. He graduated from Sentinel High School, class of 1979 and after graduation he traveled the US making a name for himself showing cattle. He also loved team roping with his family and friends. He met his wife, Traci (Couture) and got married June 16, 1990. They had two children together, Abby and Riley, and moved their family to Florence, MT in 1997. Kevin started Mytty Angus Ranch in 1999 with 20 bred heifers and grew it into one of the finest black angus ranches in the country with multiple bulls known and used around the world.

He continued his father’s legacy through Quality Construction and Shelter West, and expanded his career in 2004 starting Western Excavating and acquiring the Windermere Franchise. Through these companies he was instrumental in the completion of many projects in and around the Missoula area, such as completing the cleanup and development of infrastructure at the Old Saw Mill District as well as the visionary behind the 44 Ranch subdivision in Missoula. He was an avid member of the Missoula Builders Association, Montana Angus Association, American Angus Association, and sat on the board of directors for the YMCA and Trailwest Bank.

Kevin and Traci enjoyed traveling, golfing, spending time with family and friends at their lake cabin. He loved skiing with his family, traveling to Junior Angus shows with his daughter, coaching his son’s little league baseball teams, as well as watching endless basketball games, track meets, and motocross races.

Kevin was survived by his wife of 36 years, Traci Mytty; beloved children Abby (Joe) Dunning and Riley (Allison) Mytty; adored grandchildren Liv, Tallulah, Asher, and Tatum (Tatum being born just 1 day prior to his passing); cherished mother Sandy Mytty and siblings Kelly Mytty Donoghue and Kory Mytty; along with many nieces, nephews, extended family, and dear friends.

Kevin was preceded in death by his father William E. Mytty Jr.

Kevin made a standing impression on everyone he met and will be remembered for his brilliant and innovative mind, goofy sense of humor, kind heart, and love for children. One of the things he looked forward to most in life was to be a grandfather.

If you would like to make a contribution on his behalf, the family suggests memorials be made in Kevin’s name to The Association Frontotemporal Degeneration and Research at www.theaftd.org
