Linda Sims, 76, of Missoula, passed away on Wednesday, December 10, 2025.
She was born on August 19, 1949, to Warren and Rosemary Sims, the second eldest of 7 children. Linda graduated high school in Missoula County. On June 14, 1969 she married Bill Berthoud and in 1978, they moved to Stevensville to raise their two daughters, Lisa and Angela. While in Stevensville, Linda went back to school at Missoula Vo-tech, getting her degree in computer programming. In 1986, they moved back to Missoula and Linda took a job for Missoula County Public Schools as their data manager. Linda worked for the school district until her retirement. While there, she developed many friendships that continued throughout her retirement.
Linda had so many accomplishments it is hard to list them all. She had a love of travel and made two trips to Ireland; one with her sister Pam and the second with her friend, Rosalie Meltzer. She also traveled to Northern Spain to complete the Camino with Rosalie, a six week trip that proved to be a grand adventure, always sending breathtaking pictures of the trip to those of us at home so we could see all that she was experiencing vicariously through her, blisters and all.
A devout Catholic, Linda attended church regularly and gave back to her Catholic Community. It was at church she met the most wonderful friend and companion, Patrick Byrne. Linda and Pat had many adventures together, from traveling to Puerto Vallarta to getting into trouble at the farm, the two were inseparable. Pat has come to be a treasured member of our family.
Linda is preceded in death by her brother Brian Sims, her parents, Warren and Rosemary Sims, granddaughter Grace Sorum and grandson Kaleb Sorum.
She is survived by her siblings Larry (Karen) Sims, Pam (Jim) Clapham, Paula (Ray) Slater, Cathy (Larry) Donaldson, and Chris (Don) Watson and daughters, Lisa (Bill) Funke and Angela (Doug) Penninger along with her grandchildren Bailey Funke and Emily Coulston.
