Lois Nadine Morkert Shaw passed away at home on July 5th, 2026, after a battle with cancer at the age of 92. She was born on January 26, 1934, to Alfred E and Mildred G Morkert.
Lois grew up in Arlee Montana. Alfred worked for the railroad and was involved in an accident in 1935 that took his life. She has fond memories of spent time with her grandparents while her stepfather outfitted in the Bob Marshall Wilderness and her mother was the camp cook.
She went to Spokane Washington and graduated from telegraph school and that is where she met Thomas G. Shaw. They fell in love and were married on March 11, 1954, and started their life together. They had four sons Steven, Michael, Ryan and Kenneth. Lois worked for White Pine and Sash before starting her ceramic shop where she taught others the art of painting ceramics for about 25 years. After Tom passed way in 2005 Lois then worked for Beach Transportation as an aid riding the school bus.
She enjoyed her pets, quilting, knitting, sewing, hand crafts and reading. They were members of the Orchard Homes Country Life Club
Lois is preceded in death by her husband Tom, her father Alfred E Morkert, Mother Mildred Morkert Chaffin and stepfather Allen R Chaffin. daughter-in-law debbie Shaw, Sisters: Myrtle (George) Eldridge, Azara (Bob) Llewellyn, Judith Lease, Ethel (Don) Hoehn, brother: Alfred Stanley (Caroline) Morkert, sister-in-law Evelyn (Rolf) Zillmer and brother-in-law Donald Shaw.
Lois is survived by her four children: Steven Shaw of Missoula, Michael (Nyla) Shaw of Florence, Ryan Shaw of Helena, and Kenneth (Audrey) Shaw of Missoula. Her brother: Allen Ray (Darlene) Chaffin of Haines, Alaska. Her six grandchildren: Lisa (Shaun) Villa of Boise, ID, Nadine (Sandro) Shaw of Seattle, WA, Sarah (Troy) Ussery of Missoula, Cory (Elizabeth) Shaw of Missoula, Sheryce (Cullen) Shaw of Butte and Tianah Shaw of Missoula. Her three Great Granddaughters: Lillian and Sierra Villa and Gwendolyn Shaw. Along with many nieces and nephews.
All the family would like to express a special thank you to the family members that took time to take care of Lois and to Partners in Home Care Hospice.
