Missoula

Lynda Lee Smith, 82, of Missoula, peacefully passed away on Friday, November 18, 2023 of natural causes.

She was born January 27th, 1941 in Evanston, Illinois to Lee C and Lorraine Shaw. She attended her grade school and high school years in Evanston and graduated with the class of ‘63 from William Woods University in Fulton, Missouri.

After graduating from William Woods University, she was hired by the Chicago Sun Times and was there that she would meet her future husband, Sandy Smith.

They were married in September of 1965 in Annapolis, Maryland and had their first child, Candace Lee on August 7th, 1967. Shorty thereafter they had their second child, son Casey on April 9th, 1969. On November 10th, 1971, they had their third child, Sally Jo.

Life in Annapolis was consumed with cruising the Chesapeake Bay on their restored 60ft Bugeye sailboat. Lynda wrote for the Bay Magazine and volunteered at many school and church functions. She was an accomplished piano player and was a stand out in the church choir.

In the late 80’s, she and Sandy moved from Annapolis to Seeley Lake, Montana. From there they finally settled in Missoula.

A loving wife, mother, grandmother and great grandmother, her generosity and caring for others went above and beyond.

She is survived by her daughter Candace Lee, son Casey, grandson Storm, and great grandchildren Jas and Jericho.
