Margaret S. Gertner, beloved wife, mother, grandmother, and great-grandmother, passed away peacefully on May 26, 2024, at the age of 96.

Born on October 14, 1927, in Olean, NY, to George and Rose Sader, Margaret lived a life full of love, dedication, and warmth. She graduated from St. Bonaventure University in 1949, where she met the love of her life, John (Jack) Gertner. They married soon after and enjoyed 70 beautiful years together until Jack’s passing in 2020.

Margaret and Jack raised their family in Rochester, NY, where Margaret balanced her roles as a devoted wife and mother with her career as a school teacher before dedicating herself fully to her family. They were blessed with five children: John, Kathleen, Thomas, Robert, and William. Their family continued to grow, and Margaret cherished her 12 grandchildren and 8 great-grandchildren.

Margaret was known for her exceptional cooking and baking, with a special passion for preparing Lebanese cuisine that brought joy and togetherness to countless family gatherings. She also enjoyed playing bridge and was an active Girl Scout leader, positively influencing many young lives. She also organized several family reunions that created great memories for her family.

After Jack retired, they moved to Florida, where they enjoyed a wonderful 30-year retirement filled with sunshine and happy memories. Margaret’s love, kindness, and strength left a lasting impact on all who knew her.

Margaret will be dearly missed, but her legacy of love and devotion will live on in the hearts of her family and friends.
