Matthew Ryan Hummer, 30, of Potomac, passed away on Sunday, October 9th, 2022 in his home in Florence.
He was born on December 7, 1991 to Ernie and Janet Hummer. He attended Potomac Elementary, Hellgate High School, and the University of Montana. He then went on to work for Home Depot and Missoula Textiles. He was the manager of Missoula Textiles and is remembered there for how deeply he cared for his coworkers. Matthew was extremely adventurous, he always wanted to be outside whether that was hunting or fishing with his Dad, or just driving around in his truck. He was the best brother a girl could ask for, loyal and loving to a fault. He was an amazing uncle to all the kids in the family. He never hesitated to take Henry fishing, play peek-a-boo with Madison, or play video games with Cooper. All of his nieces and nephews loved their time with Uncle Matt.
Matthew had the biggest heart and sweetest soul. He was loved by everyone who met him. He had a contagious smile and an even more contagious laugh. He would bend over backwards to help anyone and would empathize with those who were hurting.
Matthew is survived by his parents Ernie and Janet Hummer; his sisters Addi (James) Frogale and Kristen (Ross) Blankers; his grandparents Jack and Betty Hummer, James Fitzpatrick, and Darcy Maiers; his nieces and nephews Henry, Cecilia, Logan Frogale, and Madison Blankers; as well many aunts, uncles, and cousins.
He was preceded in death by his great grandparents Bob and Betty Gow, and Grandmother Rosemary Fitzpatrick; as well as Jamie Fitzpatrick, Terry Pesanti, and Donnie Hummer.
A memorial service will be held on Sunday, October 16, 2022, at 2:00 pm at Johnsrud Park day-use area with a reception to follow.
