Matthew Pozega, 83, of Missoula passed away Friday, May 20, 2022 at Missoula Health and Rehabilitation. A graveside service will be held at 2:00 p.m., Wednesday, May 25, 2022 at Sunset Memorial Gardens Cemetery in Missoula. Online condolences may be left at gardencityfh.com.
Matthew Joseph Pozega, son of Matthew B. and Amelia (Krsul) Pozega, was born October 25, 1938 in Anaconda, Montana. He graduated from Anaconda High School in 1956. Shortly after graduation he enlisted in the United State Army and joined the U.S. Army Reserves following his active service. Matthew was united in marriage to Devonna Mahle; the couple later divorced.
Matthew spent most of his working career as the Meat Department Manager at Safeway. He retired in 1993, but continued working hauling U.S. Mail for his son’s, Matthew Pozega, business. He helped haul and organize daily operations. Matthew’s true passion was the outdoors, either hunting or fishing depending on the season. He was a devoted father, grandfather, great grandfather, brother, uncle and friend who will be missed by all.
Matthew is survived by his children, Matthew (Chris Parsons) Pozega; Kurt Pozega; Tammy Pozega; Tim (Carmen) Wyant; two grandchildren, Brooke McClean; Aaron Erickson; four great grandchildren; brother, Tom (JoAnn) Pozega; sister, Mary Lou McDaniel; numerous nieces, nephews, extended family and friends.
He was preceded in death by his parents, Matthew and Amelia Pozega; son, Mike Koleff; sister, Margaret Shepard; brother, Frank Parot; brother-in-law, Larry McDaniel.
