Michael Allen, 79, of Missoula passed away after a courageous battle with cancer on Sunday, June 14, 2026 at St. Patrick Hospital with family by his side. A memorial service will be held at 1:00 p.m. Friday, June 26, 2026 at Lolo Community Church with Military Honors to follow at 2:00 p.m. A reception will begin following the service and honors ceremony. A private family interment will be held in the Holy Cross Cemetery in Butte. 

Michael Charles Allen, son of William and Agnes (Kruzich) Allen, was born January 22, 1947 in Butte, Montana. Agnes passed away when Mike was very young and his aunt, Mabel played a huge role shaping the man he grew up to be. He graduated from Butte High School and enlisted in the United States Army. After Mike was honorably discharged, he continued his education obtaining two master’s degrees, one in Social Work and the other in English. He spent most of his career mentoring and guiding the next generation as a social worker.

Mike was a master chess and pool player playing in many tournaments across the US. He was an avid reader and enjoyed playing golf and basketball. Mike adored the outdoors and spent time tending to his flower garden. Mike’s favorite time was the time spent with his children and grandchildren. He loved travelling to visit his family no matter where they moved. When Mike returned home, he was always greeted by his beloved cats. Above all else, he was a devoted father, grandfather, and friend who will be greatly missed.

Left to cherish his memory are his children, Dawn Allen; Amy Stanley; Christopher Allen; grandchildren, Sophia Marie Castillo and Christopher Allen, Jr; extended family and friends.

Mike was preceded in death by his parents, William and Agnes; aunts, Mabel Allen; Helen Doyle; uncle, Jim Allen.
