In Loving Memory of Mike Geer

Mike Geer punched his ticket for the final trip to Heaven, and we can only assume he arrived ready to compete. Heaven has already welcomed him with a basketball court, a beautiful golf course with wide fairways and perfectly manicured greens, and a group of athletes who have no idea what they're up against. He was 64 years young-and if Heaven has a scoreboard, you can bet Mike is already trying to win.

Mike Geer was born on May 29, 1962, in Roundup, Montana, to William "Bill" and Rosemary Riekena Geer. In the summer of 1963, his parents moved the family to Polson, Montana, where Mike spent much of his life. He passed away peacefully on September 5, 2026.
Mike was the youngest of four children. He was preceded in death by his father, William, and his sister, Jana (Wade Davis and Casey). He is survived by his mother, Rosemary; his sister, Jeri; his brother, Bill (Judy); nephews Marcus, Brian (Kate and Barrett), and Jared; and niece Breann (Mike and Casey).

A Talented Athlete
Mike was an outstanding athlete who excelled in football, basketball, and track. During his senior year of high school, he was named MVP of the State Class A Basketball Tournament. He also earned All-State honors in football and was an important member of the 1981 track team, helping bring home a first-place trophy by winning several events.

His love and talent for basketball continued after high school. Mike played collegiate basketball for Miles City Community College and Western Montana College in Dillon, Montana. He was later inducted into the Hall of Fame at both colleges. He went on to compete in the decathlon at Montana State University, further demonstrating his athletic prowess.

A Man Who Could Do It All
Mike was a true hands-on person who loved working with both his mind and his hands. He was a self-employed carpenter, plumber, and electrician-a man who could build a house from the foundation to the roof. There seemed to be very little he couldn't figure out how to build, fix, or repair.

But his greatest gift was not simply what he could do-it was his willingness to do it for others.

Mike was always ready to lend a hand. Whether the job was large or small, he would help anyone who needed him, often taking on the work himself. He gave his time, his skills, and his energy freely, never expecting anything in return.

His generosity, determination, independence, and willingness to help others reflected the kind of man Mike was.

Mike will be remembered for his athletic ability, his remarkable talents, his competitive spirit, his independent nature, and his incredible ability to figure out just about anything.

But most of all, he will be remembered for the way he helped people.
He leaves behind family and friends who will cherish his memory, his stories, his accomplishments, and the countless ways he touched their lives.

And while we will miss him more than words can say, we can picture Mike exactly where he belongs-on a basketball court or golf course, talking a little trash, competing to win, and probably wondering why everyone else isn't keeping up.
