Michael “Mikey” Isaiah Mercer, of Missoula, Montana, and most recently Boise, Idaho, passed away on Saturday, March 21, 2026, at the age of 21.
Born on January 17, 2005, in Missoula, Montana to Tex Mercer and Dawn Twite. Mikey lived a life marked by unwavering kindness and an unforgettable presence. He had a big heart and an even bigger smile, complete with dimples that could light up any room. To many, he was our gentle giant, a true teddy bear who made everyone feel seen, valued, and loved.
Mikey loved life fully and found joy in the things that brought people together. He was a devoted fan of football, cheering on the Montana Bobcats and Seattle Seahawks, and enjoyed outdoor adventures; including skiing, hunting, shooting sports, and the family’s cherished annual horseback rides. He loved music of all kinds, from Toby Keith to Post Malone, often driving around in his car with the music turned up and windows down. He also had a well-known sweet tooth and a playful spirit that kept those around him laughing. We take comfort in imagining him now, perfecting his ninja moves alongside Chuck Norris in heaven.
Michael’s faith in God was the foundation of his life. He carried himself with compassion, humility, and grace, quick to forgive and always willing to lend a helping hand. His strong work ethic earned him the respect of his peers, and his heart for others was evident in everything he did. A fiercely patriotic young man, he felt deeply blessed to be an American. Above all, his love for Jesus Christ was his greatest passion, and he lived that faith daily, ending every phone call with the same words: “God bless. Love you.”
Family meant everything to Mikey. He loved deeply, and he was deeply loved in return. Mikey is survived by his loving parents, Tex Mercer and Dawn Twite (Mike); his siblings, Benjamin Mercer (Maria & Rio), Jeremiah Mercer, Rebekah Bleecker (Steven, Hudson, & Gavin), Sarah Mercer (Aaron Kelly), Matthew Mercer, and Naomi Mercer; and countless extended family members and friends whose lives he touched so profoundly.
Michael’s memory will live on in the laughter he shared, the love he gave so freely, and the countless lives he impacted. He will forever be our beloved son, brother, uncle, and friend—held close in our hearts until we meet again.
“There is a season for everything under heaven: A time to be born and a time to die; A time to weep and a time to laugh; A time to mourn and a time to dance.” Ecclesiastes 3:1-4
