Michael Phelps Prescott Reeder

May 17, 1955 — December 9, 2021

Michael “Mike” Phelps Prescott Reeder, 66, of Superior, Montana, passed away Thursday, December 9, 2021 at Providence St. Patrick Hospital in Missoula, Montana, following a heart attack.

Mike was born in Key West, Florida, the second of six children born to Mary L. and John E. Reeder. As a military family they moved a bit in Mike’s younger years; he graduated from Robinson High School in Fairfax, Virginia before attending The Catholic University of America in Washington, D.C. as a Theatre major. Upon his retirement from acting, Mike moved to Montana, a place he found beautiful and serene.

Mike may have been recognized in several commercials over the years, but the one that impacted his life most was a 1995 Chevy "Like a Rock" commercial (found in the tribute video section). This commercial introduced him to Montana and it is when he fell in love with the great state. His family also notes that it was appropriate because Mike was a rock for their family. Other things Mike enjoyed were cooking, entertaining, and filling a room with love and laughter. He loved water, mountains, and all aspects of nature. His hobbies included hiking, fishing, photography and anything that allowed him to be outdoors. He was also incredibly passionate about his website https://simplyamerica.net, which he described as “a journey across our country, to meet some of the millions of conservative Americans and rediscover the passion, the understanding, the love, and the humor of our American spirit.”

Mike was a dedicated son, uncle, brother, and friend. He is survived by his mother, five siblings, a host of nieces and nephews and several great-nieces and great- nephews who all know him as their Montana Cowboy. Mike was dearly loved and will be missed by all who knew him.

The family will hold an intimate celebration of life in the summer of 2022.

In lieu of flowers donations may be made to St. Patrick House in Missoula who so kindly provided the family with an affordable and private space of comfort to rest, process and plan during this difficult time.
