Michelle Mohland

Michelle Lee Mohland, 66, of Missoula passed away on Friday, September 19, 2025, at the Hope Hospice house after a battle with cancer.

She was born October 21, 1958 in Scobey, Montana to James and Shirley Hellickson. While growing up, she enjoyed participating in Girl Scouts, an activity she shared with her grandmother LaVerne. Her troop traveled around the state of Montana to celebrate the Bicentennial and the following year they explored Saskatchewan. She enjoyed camping and the sisterhood of Scouting.

In 1978, she moved to Missoula to begin a respiratory technician program at the Missoula Technical Center. After graduation in 1979, she began a life-long career at St. Patrick Hospital as a respiratory therapist and worked there until her retirement in 2022.

On March 12, 1994, she married Cy Mohland. They spent the last 31 years caring for each other, enjoying Grizzly football games, yearly trips to Scobey to visit family, outings to the Rock Creek cabin, and get-togethers with family and friends in Missoula.

She is preceded in death by her grandparents Joseph and LaVerne Hellickson, and John and Jeanette Cavanaugh, her parents James and Shirley Hellickson, and sisters Barbara Hellickson and Robin Hammar.

She is survived by her husband Cy Mohland and daughter Ashley Mohland, brothers Robert (Valerie) Hellickson, and Mark Hellickson, brother-in-law Donnie Hammar, and sister Brenda(Lee) Cook as well as many nieces and nephews whom she loved.

She touched many lives as a respiratory therapist and established many close friendships while growing up in Scobey and during her 47 years living in Missoula. She will be greatly missed by family and friends.

A graveside service will be held on Saturday, October 18th at 11:00 am at the Murray memorial cemetery in Lonepine, Montana.
