Nancy Ann Foster

Nancy Foster, born October 18, 1938, to Burt and Irene Hummer, passed away May 2, 2026 surrounded by her family.

At the age of eight, Nancy experienced the loss of her parents and was moved to Ovando, where she was raised by her aunt and uncle. Those early years helped shape the strength, resilience, and warmth she carried throughout her life.

On February 14, 1956, she married the love of her life, Donald Oliver Foster. Together, they built a life rooted in hard work, family, and shared passions. They owned and operated the Western Auto store for many years, becoming a familiar and valued part of their community.

Nancy later worked at Sun Mountain Sports before becoming a bus driver for Beach Transportation, where she was known for her friendly presence and dependable nature.

In retirement, Nancy found joy in the simple things she loved most. She spent time decorating birdhouses lovingly crafted by her husband, and together they enjoyed taking road trips to Washington State and the coast—creating memories that will be cherished by her family.

Nancy is survived by her three daughters: Cindy Schutter, Dawn Briggs (Mike); Julie Foster (Doug), and her brother Jack Hummer (BettyJo). She also leaves behind her beloved grandchildren: Michael Briggs, Lyndsey Foster, Daniel Maze (Luca), and Jamie Lee (Ryan), as well as eight great-grandchildren.

She was preceded in death by her parents, Burt and Irene Hummer; her husband, Donald Foster; and her brothers, Joseph, Robert, and James Hummer and granddaughter Rhiannon Briggs.

Nancy will be remembered for her strength, her kindness, and her deep love for her family.
